In just a few short years, Fall Out Boy have burst onto the scene to become one of the most popular rock groups today. Hailing from suburban Chicago, the rock sensation includes lead vocalist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley. The group got its start when Trohman and Wentz crossed paths through their involvement in the Chicago music scene. They recruited friends Stump and Hurley, and Fall Out Boy was born.

The boys released two EPs with Uprising Records, Split in 2002 and Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girlfriend in 2003. During this time they continued to tour the Chicago nightclub scene, focusing on the suburban areas, where their "emo" style of rock was gaining popularity. Their first full-length album, Take This to Your Grave, was released later in 2003 on the Fueled By Ramen label. The album's two singles, "Grand Theft Autumn (Where Is Your Boy)" and "Saturday" were both played in heavy rotation on FUSE and MTVU, and the album achieved gold status in sales. After the album's release, Fall Out Boy signed a contract with Island Records and in 2004 released an acoustic EP titled My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue. They finally found commercial success with their 2005 major label debut From Under the Cork Tree. The first single from the album was titled "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" and reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The video for the single reached number on MTV's Total Request Live and helped to establish the band as the front runner in today's music scene. They found further success with the follow-up single "Dance, Dance". Fall Out Boy's growing fan base showed their support by awarding the band with the MTV2 Award at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, and their talent was recognized by critics in 2006 as they were nominated for a Grammy award in the category of Best New Artist.
