If anything killed the Jaguars chances last season it was the lack of pass rush. Opposing quarterbacks picked apart a hurting secondary. To change that situation the Jags inked DE Aaron Kampman, a former Packer with a good push. The NFL Draft produced 1st rounder Tyson Aluala of California and #2 pick D’Anthony Smith. The two youngsters will plug up the middle and give Kampman and Derrick Harvey the chance to pressure opposing quarterbacks. Not resting with the D-Line, Del Rio traded for the Raiders for Kirk Morrison, freeing the talented Daryl Smith to move to the strong side. A beleaguered secondary will appreciate the extra help. Cornerback Derek Cox was thrown to the wolves his rookie season and responded well. Rashean Mathis needs to stay healthy. When at full speed, Mathis is a top flight NFL quarterback.
