The US Open, which is held in Queens, New York City during the week before and after Labor Day. The US Open is held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and is played on a hard court surface. The surfaces of the US Open, as well as those of the US Open Series, are blue which provide a better view of the ball. The US Open series takes place the six weeks prior to the US Open and allows players to accumulate points, which can enhance the prize money they earn at the US Open. The US Open Series is played throughout the USA and in Canada. As a result, no matter where you live in the USA you will be able to catch some of the action as the competitors make their way to the US Open.

Thus far, this year has truly been a year of records, rankings, and changes for tennis. With ESPN following the Grand Slam’s every move, the world will be watching as this year’s champions take the U.S. courts. Will Federer end the year with yet another victory? Has Nadal recovered enough from his injury to come back with a bang? Will Söderling get back at Federer for his defeat in the French Open? Better yet, will Roddick get back at Federer for his defeat at Wimbledon? This year’s Opening Night will start off the 2012 U.S. Open with victory for everyone due to athletes like Andre Agassi. We can only hope that the athletics of the 2012 U.S. Open will live up to all of this excitement!
