A look t the Clippers roster does lend itself to some optimism though. This is a team that’s not far removed from a playoff appearance two years ago. Someone needs to step up and that someone is very likely to be Corey Magette. Maggette loves to drive to the basket, puts up double digit points and is a sure thing at the free throw line. More playing time will mean bigger numbers for him.
Center Chris Kaman will also play a huge part in making the Clippers work. After losing time to injury, the 7-foot center will be called on to justify the $50 Million contract he just signed. Newcomer Al Thornton will get loads of playing time as a result of the loss of Brand. That could pay off late in the season. Brand is expected back after the All Star break so hopefully his return, along with the presence of an experienced Thornton, could propel the Clippers to a post-season berth.
