Seattle Supersonics Tickets- A New Ballgame

If you held Sonics tickets last season don’t bother checking out your programs. This is whole new Seattle Supersonics. Trading away Ray Allen and losing Rashard Lewis means that the Sonics are now in the rebuilding mode. That isn’t a bad thing in that they’re rebuilding under the guidance of Sam Presti, who helped make the Spurs a juggernaut. Whether Presti has the time available to do the same in Seattle is the biggest question for Sonics tickets.

Seattle Supersonics – Where is Home?

It’s tough to forge an NBA team under the best of circumstances. Presti has the daunting task of doing it with a franchise that may not stay in place. The Sonics have made their home in Seattle for over 40 years but right now that stability is in jeopardy. Despite the loyalty of Sonics ticket holders, owner Clay Bennett is adamant about getting a new arena, something Seattle has been slow to act on. The atmosphere of uncertainty is something the Sonics will have to live with though until the ownership and the city of Seattle can settle their differences.

Back to the Sonics roster. At center, Seattle will have to find a solid and consistent starter. Robert Swift may be their best choice if he can recover from knee problems and stay healthy. Or then again, Seattle may decide to move in favor of veteran Kurt Thomas, who comes over from Phoenix and could help keep things settled and moving in the right direction.

The forward position seems to be leaning towards Nick Collison, a good defensive player and decent offensive leader. He’ll be challenged for playing time by Chris Wilcox. Of course Kevin Durant will land in the other spot. Durant can play both forward and shooting guard and should see time at both spots. Don’t expect him to shine right away as he’s a long term project.

Luke Ridnour and Earl Watson are a toss up at the point guard position. Both have their strengths. Ridnour looked like the man at one time but an off-season last year make him trade bait. Watson could get the nod just because he seems to be more stable and has the sand to be on the court every night.
